I saw an interesting program today, a couple of fellows were talking about faster reaction time through classical martial arts training. The odd thing is that they were carrying on about muscle memory. They claimed that you train the body to react so fast that there is no reaction time.

Didn’t know that the man in black could fix Martial Arts Systems, did you? Well, actually, his advice is for fixing automobiles, sort of, but it leads into the fighting disciplines. And it is fine advice indeed.

Many people think that True Martial Arts Power comes from big muscles. Unfortunately, they aren’t completely right. To fully understand the power we are talking about here we must change our basic concept of what a muscle is and does.

When we consider the best martial arts forms we are speaking of those martial arts kata that result in a the most benefit to the student. To be honest, I usually recommend learning as many kata as possible, then working on the ones that the student prefers, although there can be oddities in this approach. I also hold that one should learn whole arts, first taekwondo, then karate, then kung fu, and so on.

Eight forms is all you need to learn to get to a Martial Arts Black Belt, and this is in karate, or taekwondo, or kenpo, or even the many kung fu systems and other fighting arts. Of course the forms must be the right size and quality to be effective. A good example of this is presented by Karate, which came from Kung Fu, and is the basis for both Kenpo and Taekwondo.

I’ve taught for over forty years, and I’ve seen martial arts techniques that work, and martial arts moves that don’t work. Of course, I haven’t seen everything that doesn’t work. It seems like there is always some fool that will invent a new trick that doesn’t work.

Up to this point in history the idea of perceiving the God Concept through the martial arts was not really considered possible. If one wants to come to an understanding of God, the reasoning goes, one must join an establishment and follow the rules of that establishment. This flies in the face of the true abilities that are the essence of the ‘I am’ that actuates the human form.

Black Belt rankings were begun by Judo Master Jigoro Kano. Master Kano is supposed to have based his system on rankings used by swimming clubs. Karate clubs in Japanese Universities borrowed this ranking system.

Martial Artists like to think of themselves as tough cookies. They break a few bricks and swagger around and grunt. But once you read the following list of feats, you are going to know that these martial artists need to work a little harder to be Brue Lee tough!

There will be preferences when it comes time to learn Martial Arts, but there are also a number of things that are fairly obvious, and that we will be able to agree about. Interestingly, I came across the information I am relaying here many years ago, and have used it myself. It deals with analyzing the worth of media in transmitting information. The worst way to absorb data is through the movies or television. This is because the martial art techniques that you will see on the big screen, whether it is the art of Steven Segal, Jackie Chan, or whoever, has been altered for the camera. Yes, it may look amazing, but stuntmen and camera cuts are doing the real work.

Shotokan Karate is one of the most significant karates styles in the world, so many styles are derived from this system, and thus are tainted with some very incorrect concepts. Thus, whether you study Shito ryu, Isshin Ryu, Kyokushinkai, or any style that utilizes the Heian kata, you probably are making the errors I am detailing in this article. It doesn’t mean your karate stance is a disaster, it just means if you make a couple of adjustments you can improve it.

I walked into my first American Kenpo Karate dojo over 40 years ago. This was the Rod Martin version of Tracys Kenpo, which was avariation of Ed Parker Kenpo Karate. Therein lies the first problem with American Kenpo.

This secret technique is actually inside karate fighting systems, as well as kung fu fighting systems, or just about any martial art you want to name. The reason for this is because it is a basic motion of the arms. This basic motion, once understood, will give rise to virtually all the techniques of the martial arts.

Monster Martial Arts (MonsterMartialArts.com) has nominated Al Case as the best martial arts writer of all time. Monster, which offers many of Al’s books and videos on their website, said the selection process was very easy. ‘Al not only has an extremely large body of work, but many of his writings will totally change the arts.’

Gonna be some different opinions concerning which are the eight best Martial Arts books, but I would begin with Aikido and the Dynamic Sphere. Written by A Westbrook and O Ratt, the writing is vivid, and the illustrations are possibly the best martial arts graphics ever drawn. A thick book, it covers the art to ten layers, and one gets the feel of how energy actually swirls in the practice of the art.

In this article I am going to reveal the three steps to making ki power through karate kata. This intrinsic energy is actually easy to make, but I have never met a sensei who knew the secret of how to release the power. I don’t care if you study Japanese Karate kata, Korean Karate kata, Okinawan Karate kata, or whatever, the ki can be made–you just have to do the three easy steps.

You can cure yourself of the sickness of insanity, and the whole world of being insane, if you can discover Real Karate. Now, we are not talking real karate videos on youtube or some other TV here, nor some other fantasy. We are talking about the type of martial arts studied over the ages that work on different levels for everybody.

It’s odd that we would think in terms of differences when it comes to Kung Fu and Karate, for there are more similarities than one would suspect. They are both combative arts, after all, and karate is actually descended from kung fu. To really understand the differences one needs to consider the arts as a whole, and how they evolve.
