Acid reflux, also known as heartburn, is a condition wherein acid-containing stomach juices come back into the esophagus from the gut. The lower part of the esophagus contains a valve at the end, called the lower esophageal sphincter, or LES for short, which opens to let the food we eat get into the belly, and then shutting to keep the gastric juices and food within the stomach. When this valve relaxes too often or doesn’t shut correctly, it can lead to the gut juices getting into the esophagus, which isn’t supplied to deal with the acidic matter. When this occurs it leads to the telltale signs of heartburn, with a burning sensation in the area.

Wouldn’t we all like to have a flat stomach, and nice abs? Night panic attacks have and continue to drive many people right to the edge, as there are few things more frightening than waking in the dead of night reeling in apprehension, sweating profusely and your heart battering as though it may indeed jump right from your chest, with lots of other possible symptoms to keep you completely scared for the following 10-15 mins or so.
