Home tv shopping networks abound with products and equipment that promise people to lose weight, get ripped abs, and gain an overall sexy figure. These commercials usually depict obese people during the “before” and then depict beautiful sexy or macho models during the “after” to illustrate how effective their products work. Clearly, they capitalize on the concept of obesity but delve only the aesthetics. Perhaps there are deeper issues concerning obesity and defining and understanding it can help people better in battling this condition.

With Christmas and New Year celebrations just being a week a part, most people have to face a number of demands such as shopping, cleaning, entertaining, and preparing for the holidays. A lot of people also have to attend parties, reunions, and other celebrations. Because of the dizzying schedules, conflicts within relationships may occur. Finances are burdened with the increased in spending and the body is exhausted with the physical demands of a lot of activities. All these contribute to the stress and depression which can ruin the holidays as well as one’s well-being. Everyone must try to minimize and cope with these stressors if they are to survive this season.

The popularity of kettlebell training is on the rise as more people have come to realize its benefits over traditional machine and weight training. Kettlebells have been in use in Russia as early as in the 1700’s among the Gireviks or the Russian strongmen. Currently, the kettlebell training remains to be the staple on Russian military and athletic training. The kettlebell was vastly unnoticed in the Western world with only a few during the early 1900’s when English strongmen began to use kettlebells for their training. But still, the kettlebell went into obscurity. The resurgence of the kettlebell, as a traditional Russian fitness tool, in the US is attributed to Russian fitness expert Pavel Tsatsouline.

The origin of boxing is very difficult to trace as the idea of fist fighting has been around as far as anyone can remember and is known to have been consistently practiced throughout various cultures. Ever since ancient times, the most basic and most easily available weapon for offense and defense has always been the fists. Modern day boxing has come a long way since and has eventually grown not only as an Olympic sport but also as a means of fitness for everyday people.
