While it is hard to imagine that dog biting behavior is similar to human behavior, it is true. When you become frustrated or angry, you may yell or have other inappropriate behaviors. Your dog, however, can not yell and may show their aggression by biting. Unfortunately, if not stopped, it can lead to serious injuries and your dog may have to suffer the consequences of his or her behavior by being euthanized.

After getting a new dog, most people spend hours with it playing, allowing the puppy to bite their fingers and thinking it is so cute. The puppy is actually trying to show you that he is in charge. Canines learn to comply with their owner’s commands through a reward system. While they instinctively want to please their owners, they are driven to do so by the chance they might receive a reward for their compliance. This has proven to be an effective training aid for nearly all dogs. Essentially, if a particular behavior results in a treat, your pooch is more likely to display that same behavior in the future.

Canines go through changes as they age in the same way people do. Their heart and kidneys become taxed and less capable of enduring extreme physical exertion. Their coats becomes less shiny and gray hairs may begin showing through. The pads of their feet might thicken, their joints may begin aching, and their immune system may be less able to hold diseases at bay.

Of all canine behavior problems, aggression is one of the most dangerous. When it is triggered by territorial issues, it is even more so. That said, it’s important to realize that dogs are territorial animals by nature. When they believe their space is threatened, they will warn potential intruders to keep their distance. Within a pack environment, canines will bark to summon pack members to collectively defend their territory against intruders.

Dogs can become overweight in the same way people do. Unfortunately, if canine obesity is left untreated, it can eventually lead to – or exacerbate – a number of health issues. For example, joints may deteriorate, especially if arthritis was already a problem. Digestive issues may worsen. Excess pressure might build around the canine’s heart and lungs.

We all want our pets to have the healthiest diet we can give them. Research proves that a proper diet is essential for having a healthy animal. A happy looking animal on the outside of the package is not a good indicator of the quality of the food inside. Every pet needs a diet that is tailored to their nutritional needs.

I’m sure most dog owners will admit that they love spoiling their dog with human food. Even though man’s best friend doesn’t mind finishing off those leftovers or helping you make room in your fridge, they cannot handle some of our people food.

Adult dogs that are comfortable around other canines and people have usually received proper socialization early in their life. It begins within the first few weeks following birth. If a puppy has positive experiences with others, he will typically develop into a healthy, friendly canine. You’ll be able to place him within a variety of environments without worry regarding how he’ll behave.
